Going Off Air

Tuesday, 4th October, was an eventful day in Highland Radio. It started off just like every other day at work experience where I’d come in and get some work to do. As I was getting instructions on what I was supposed to do, a sudden panic came about. We had gone off air! The telephones instantly rang with people asking whether it was their radio or or the station that was the problem. There was a power outage and the backup generator wasn’t ¬†working for the station. This left me with the job of playing music and ad breaks in the studio in case we did come back. It was probably the best type of work experience i could do at Highland because it was so hands on. About an hour and twenty minutes later we came back on air and Shaun Doherty took over the studio.
